The town of Platypus Rock was embarrassed by the scandal that resulted in Mayor Fleck getting arrested earlier this fall. The trial may be over, but the general consensus is that justice was not served. Solomon Fleck was released from jail last week and the charges dropped after the judge declared a mistrial.
Our City Council was unwilling to fire Fleck until the trial concluded. Their simple statement to the press was, “Mayor Fleck will remail innocent until proven guilty. Therefore, we cannot justify taking action against him until a verdict is reached.”
Mr. Fleck saved the council from having to vote on an official decision when he turned in his resignation via postal mail that was opened at the most recent council meeting. They did vote to accept his resignation and release him from his contract.
Much to the outrage of our citizens, the rumor was confirmed today that Mr. Fleck has already accepted a new job as Mayor at another city and is scheduled to start on January 1, 2018.

Letter to the Editor:
All of this situation is exaggerated. I was and am a very good mayor. I will diligently serve a new city that actually values its mayor.
